Canada’s Defence Industrial Strategy Sends Clear Signals for Aerospace
Today, the Government of Canada officially released Security, Sovereignty and Prosperity — its long-awaited Defence Industrial Strategy (DIS).
Mike Mueller, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC), represented Canada’s aerospace industry at today’s announcement by Prime Minister Mark Carney, underscoring the DIS as a meaningful step forward for both AIAC and the broader sector.“
The Defence Industrial Strategy provides direction and sets the necessary tone for the industry,” said Mueller. “We have been calling for this level of clarity, and now it will be necessary for both government and industry to move forward in an expeditious manner.”

For more than a century, Canada’s aerospace sector has punched above its weight, cementing itself as a cornerstone of national defence and as an economic driver. This was no accident, but rather the result of political leadership, vision, and sustained collaboration between government, industry, and the Canadian Armed Forces.
