A stable economic environment is essential for the global aerospace industry to thrive. The U.S. administration’s decision to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico directly threatens that stability.
Canada and the U.S. have long benefited from deeply integrated aerospace and defence industries with a strong and balanced bilateral trade relationship that supports high value jobs and drives economic prosperity on both sides of the border. This decision by the US government will disrupt economic growth, innovation, and jobs on both sides of the border and the broader global industry.
“Our industry supports hundreds of thousands of highly skilled Canadian workers and contributes billions to the economy. Given the highly integrated nature of the global aerospace industry, we must work collaboratively to protect jobs, strengthen supply chains, and maintain our competitiveness here at home and globally” said Mike Mueller, President and CEO of AIAC.
