Annual Aerospace Dinner

The Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) is delighted to announce that this year’s Annual Canadian Aerospace Summit Dinner will include commemoration of the Royal Canadian Air Force’s (RCAF) 100th Anniversary. This special event offers a unique opportunity for industry members to honour the RCAF’s rich history and its contributions to Canadian aerospace.

As part of the celebration, AIAC is offering companies the chance to sponsor an RCAF table at the dinner. Sponsoring a table not only demonstrates your organization’s support for the RCAF but also provides several exclusive benefits:

Sponsoring an RCAF table provides your company with:

  • A chance to support RCAF’s legacy: Join current and retired RCAF members in recognizing the achievements of RCAF members as they celebrate alongside industry at annual aerospace dinner.
  • Prominent brand visibility: Your company logo will be displayed on the table and within the venue, with verbal recognition during the event.
  • Exclusive seating opportunity: Two of the eight seats at your table will be reserved for your executives. Seating will be assigned through a random draw.
  • Inspiring insights: Hear from our special guest speaker from the Department of National Defence.

The cost to sponsor an RCAF table is $2,000. To secure your sponsorship or for more information, please contact Mike Baker at mbaker@aiac.ca .

About Dave Caddey

David N. Caddey was a Canadian space industry leader and visionary. For nearly thirty years, he worked at MacDonald, Dettwiler and Associates (MDA), serving as President of MDA’s Space Missions division and as Executive Vice President. During this time, he oversaw several of their major programs and lent his management and leadership skills to some of Canada’s most advanced space programs, includ- ing the construction of the RADARSAT-2 spacecraft and its associated ground infrastructure as well as the construction of the International Space Station Mobile Servicing System.

Mr. Caddey began his career in the military, spending 19 years holding various technical and engineering positions in the Canadian Air Force before joining MDA in 1986.

A dedicated advocate for Canada’s space industry, he served as both Director and President of the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre in Vancouver, and on the Board of Directors of the US Space Foundation. He also had a long history of leadership at AIAC, including roles as Chair, a member of the board of Directors, and Chair of the AIAC Space Committee. He also played a leading role in developing the space industry’s contributions to the 2012 Emerson Review on Aerospace and Space.

Mr. Caddey held a Master of Science and Bachelor of Science from Royal Military College in 1976 and 1971, respectively. In 2014, Mr. Dave Caddey was awarded the James C. • The major highways in the Ottawa area are the 417 (also known as the Queensway), 416, 174, 7, 16 and 31 in Ontario; and the 148, 50 and 5 in Quebec. When heading east on the 417, the point in which the lanes split into two directions (one continues east, the other becomes the 174) is commonly known as ‘The Split’.
  • The speed limit on major highways (417, 416, 174) is 100 km/h (approximately 60 mph). The limit on other highways (7, 16, 31) and most rural areas is 80 km/h (50 mph). In the city, the speed limit is generally 50 km/h (30 mph) unless otherwise stated. The limit on the 148 in Quebec varies between 50, 70, and 90 km/h.
Many streets in Ottawa, especially downtown, are one-way. Be aware of signs (a white arrow on a black background) that indicate a one-way street.
  • Some Ottawa streets have adopted second names. For example, Preston Street is also known as Corso Italia, and Gladstone Avenue is also called Via Marconi.
  • In Ontario and Quebec (except Montreal), drivers are permitted to turn right on a red light unless otherwise stated.
  • Many major roadways (called the Transitway) in Ottawa are dedicated to OC Transpo buses only. These are marked with a diamond in the lane and/or a sign above the lane. Do not drive in these lanes.

Parking

  • There is a three-hour parking limit on all City of Ottawa streets unless otherwise marked; overnight parking restrictions are in effect during winter months.
  • During rush hour (7am to 9am, 3:30pm to 5:30pm), many downtown streets prohibit parking and stopping in order to improve traffic flow. Pay attention to signs!
  • Vehicles are not allowed to idle for more than three minutes in a 60-minute period, except in extreme temperatures or if the idling vehicle is a transit vehicle that is picking up or dropping off passengers.
  • From November 15 to April 1, on-street parking is prohibited between 1am and 7am when seven or more centimeters of snow is forecast or falling. City of Ottawa Traffic and Parking Branch The City of Ottawa provides designated parking spaces for tour buses and coaches. These spaces are located close to destination points in Ottawa.

Approximate travel times to Ottawa

  • Toronto 4 ½ hours
  • Montreal 2 hours
  • Kingston 2 hours
  • New York 8 hours
