Building on more than 40 years of commitment and leadership within the Canadian aerospace sector, Airbus has based its success on a deep conviction: the strength and excellence of its local partner ecosystem. As a key driver of economic development, the group currently employs over 5,300 talented individuals across ten strategic sites in the country, including a major hub of expertise bringing together over 4,600 employees in Quebec. Generating an annual purchasing volume of over two billion Canadian dollars from 970 active suppliers, the company maintains a complete value chain and supports nearly 30,000 highly skilled indirect jobs.
Cultivating a sustainable partnership daily to showcase Canadian ingenuity, Airbus relies on the A220 programme as a technological flagship and export pillar. Designed and assembled right here in the country to meet rigorous global market demands, the A220 is the only commercial aircraft produced in Canada. With more than 500 aircraft delivered as of May 2026 and a production increase of 25% per year since 2023, this programme alone generates 60% of Quebec’s aerospace exports. Operating with 25 international carriers, the A220 demonstrates Canada’s outstanding ability to provide these advanced technologies to the entire world.
As a partner for Canadian sovereignty, Airbus Helicopters stands out as a global provider of integrated platforms and services, with over 830 aircraft in service. It equips 85% of airborne fleets for law enforcement, including the RCMP and OPP, and supports critical missions like STARS Air Ambulance. Further investments include a 2024 contract for 19 H135 training helicopters for the RCAF, the inauguration of a new 21,000 square foot Fort Erie distribution center in 2025, and achieving Transport Canada certification for the H175 in 2026. Additionally, Airbus Defence and Space provides essential strategic operational capabilities to the Canadian government. This includes nine CC-330 Husky aircraft starting in 2027 to protect the Arctic and modernize NORAD, three A330s for transportation, and the CC-295 Kingfisher for critical search and rescue missions supported by AirPro SAR Services. In space technologies, Airbus delivered key systems for five satellites, including the Sapphire Satellite Bus and critical subsystems for the RADARSAT Constellation Mission.
Guided by its purpose to pioneer sustainable aerospace, Airbus targets net zero emissions by 2050, aiming to reduce Scope 1 and 2 emissions by 63% by 2030, and Scope 3 by 46% by 2035. Its Mirabel and Fort Erie sites are ISO14001 certified, and Mirabel is LEED and RSB CORSIA certified for Sustainable Aviation Fuel. In 2025, Airbus Canada utilized 153,600 litres of SAF, preventing 396 tons of CO2 emissions. Airbus continuously invests in Canadian R&D through academic partnerships with McGill, Waterloo, Polytechnique Montreal, ETS, and ENA, studying sustainability initiatives like the CRYSTAL project and hydrogen infrastructure. Finally, Airbus’s diverse Canadian ecosystem is further strengthened by subsidiaries like Airbus Atlantic Canada, Testia, STELIA North America, and the newly merged Skywise digital solutions entity, solidifying Canada’s leadership position in global aerospace.
