MIKE MUELLER TO BECOME NEW PRESIDENT & CEO OF AIACMay 5, 2021
OTTAWA (ONTARIO), May 5, 2020 – On behalf of AIAC’s Board of Directors, Lee Obst, Chair and Country Lead, Canada, Customer & Account Management at Collins Aerospace, today announced the appointment of Mike Mueller as new President & CEO of AIAC, effective immediately.
“I am very pleased to welcome Mike as our new President and CEO. With over five years of experience within the association, including the past year as Interim President & CEO, his work has been integral in advancing this innovative and strategic industry,” said Obst.
“There’s no question Mike is the right person to lead AIAC at this time and into the future. With his solid not-for-profit and political credentials, Mike has what it takes to ensure our voice is heard loud and clear in Ottawa and indeed throughout the country” said Obst.
“We have much work to do together with our government partners to ensure our industry is a significant part of Canada’s economic recovery,” said Obst. “Mike has the energy, commitment and ability to ensure we are not only at the table, but part of the solution.”
Prior to joining AIAC, Mr. Mueller held senior leadership roles in the federal government, navigating a wide variety of issues and policies. He brings a wealth of industry knowledge and government experience that has proven invaluable as the industry grapples with the effects of COVID19 and a highly competitive global marketplace.
AIAC is the national association representing Canada’s aerospace manufacturing and services sector. As the world’s ninth-largest aerospace industry, Canada’s aerospace sector contributes nearly $28B to the economy in GDP, exports 80% of its output, and dedicates over 20% of its activity to research and development (R&D). Aerospace is responsible, directly and indirectly, for the employment of 235,000 Canadians.
