Prime Minister Releases Mandate Letters for Ministers

Prime Minister Trudeau has released the ministerial mandate letters that are used to guide Cabinet’s actions in their respective portfolio areas.
Below are some highlights of the direction given to the Ministers as it relates to Canada’s aerospace industry and Vision 2025. You can read all mandate letters here.

The Honourable Navdeep Bains
Minister of Innovation, Science and Industry
- “Continue to support Canada’s traditionally strong industries – including aerospace… to increase productivity and innovation, especially as we transition to a low-carbon economy.”
- “Continue to help Canadian businesses innovate and grow so that they can create good quality jobs…Continue to support innovation ecosystems across the country…particularly those based on partnerships…to support job creation, technology adoption, investment and scale-up.”
- “Work with the Minister of Natural Resources and the minister of Environment and Climate Change to position Canada as a global leader in clean technology.”
- “Support the Minister of Procurement in bringing forward analyses and options for the creation of Defence Procurement Canada.”

- “Continue the modernization of procurement practices so that they are simpler, less administratively burdensome…encourage greater competition and include practices that support our economic policy goals including innovation.”
