AIAC APPLAUDS PARLIAMENTARY COMMITTEE MOTION TO STUDY AEROSPACE

OTTAWA (ONTARIO), November 6, 2020 – Jim Quick, President and CEO of the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) issued the following statement regarding the passage of a motion in the Standing Committee on Industry, Science and Technology that it undertake a study on issues relating to the development and support of the aerospace industry.

“AIAC has been working closely with Members of Parliament from all parties and we are very encouraged by  the Standing Committee on Industry, particularly the Bloc Quebecois, for their work on this motion.

“With more than 235,000 employees and over 700 aerospace businesses right across Canada, this is an industry that has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic and requires immediate action from the federal government as part of any upcoming federal support package.

“We look forward to continuing to work with our Parliamentary Aerospace Caucus and all parliamentarians on important initiatives to ensure Canada’s aerospace sector can play a vital part in the rebuilding of Canada’s economy, ensuring jobs and an industry to serve Canadians, and indeed the world.”
