Southport is a not-for-profit management and development company, with a goal to establish a world-class business centre balanced with lifestyle, wellness, and recreation facilities. We feature an airport, aviation and aerospace training facilities, research and development for new products, light manufacturing and educational institutions. We employ more than 570 people, our 188 residential units are home to more than 500 people, our accommodation facilities for pilot training, AMEs and other programs total more than 300 students each year. We have beautiful wide open spaces, a golf course, and fitness facilities. Since our establishment in 1992, Southport has invested almost 100 Million dollars in new facilities and services.

The airport is a critical asset that serves as a primary training facility for KF Aerospace Defence Programs in providing military flight training (MFT) services to the Department of National Defence (DND) through the Royal Canadian Air Force’s Contracted Flying Training and Support program.

Outside of flight training, Southport hosts two other aerospace related tenants, AirportTechnologies Inc. (ATI) and Stevenson Aviation – Red River College. ATI manufactures and restores airport snowplows for major airports across North America, while Stevenson Aviation offers the only Transport Canada approved Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) apprentice-model training program in Canada. Additional commercial tenants include: Accelerated Christian Education Canada, which is the national distributor of home school based curriculum; Assiniboine Community College, which offers two Licensed Practical Nursing Programs; Southern Health-Santé Sud, which has its corporate headquarters located in Southport in addition to the Portage la Prairie Emergency Medical Services; Addictions Foundation of Manitoba, which offers a youth addictions program; Nutri-Pea Ltd ., a local pea producer that uses Southport facilities for storage of their products, Portage Daycare, a 28 spot daycare, and SawmillTea & Coffee Co ., a healthy food kiosk located in the Central Plains RecPlex.

Current vacancies include a 16,000 sq. ft. facility with direct airside access and vast airside room for hangar development. There is also various commercial offices, storage and accommodation facilities.
