Atlantic Canada Aerospace & Defence Association (ACADA) Names new Pan-Atlantic BoardFebruary 9, 2017
Today Richard Billard, CEO of the Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association announced the Inaugural ACADA Board of Directors has been selected for a two-year term. Charles Richer, Senior Business Development and Procurement Manager, Valcom Consulting Group Inc., has been elected as the Chair of the twelve (12) person Regional Board.
Joining Mr. Richer are Vice-Chair Brian Johnston (Rutter Inc.), Secretary Eva Martinez (Bluedrop Training and Simulation), and Treasurer Eric Richard (3 Points Aviation Corporation). Fellow Board Members include Will Doyle (CFM), Serge Fortin (RASAKTI Inc.), Ray Dillon (GasTOPS), Derek Scott (Provincial Aerospace), Carl Kumpic (IMP Aerospace & Defence), Paul Yeatman (GeoSpectrum Technologies Inc.), Jeff Poirier (Vector Aerospace) and David Trainor (Action Aero Inc.).
The Atlantic Canada Aerospace and Defence Association (ACADA) represents a new model of sector co-operation for its 200 plus companies and organizations to facilitate strategic industry development and heighten the Atlantic Canadian brand and capabilities locally, domestically and internationally.
The Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Industry, Science and Economic Development and Minister responsible for the Atlantic Canada Opportunities Agency (ACOA), announced on January 31st, 2017 an investment of over $3 Million under ACOA’s Business Development Program to support ACADA’s operational and programming costs over the next three years.
“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as ACADA’s Board Chair and work with these dedicated Industry professionals,” said Mr. Richer. “We applaud the Government of Canada for their leadership, foresight and belief in this initiative and the dynamic and innovative Small to Medium Enterprises (SME’s) we represent in this region.”
ACADA, with 4 corporate staff based in Halifax assists the Provincial Directors situated in Charlottetown, Fredericton, Halifax and St. John’s.

Charles (Charlie) started in his role with Valcom Consulting Group Inc. after retiring from the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) in June of 2006. He completed just less than 22 years of service and very much enjoyed the entire experience, the comradery and lifelong friends. Prior to releasing from the CAF, he completed his Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Brunswick (UNB). From the onset of his role with Valcom Charlie has enjoyed the team he works with as well as the challenges and hurdles he has faced and overcome over the last decade.
